  • According to Vehicle Maintenance Regulation Chapter 30 and Chapter 34, if the form of a vehicle is changed or altered, then the following applies in reading the table above
    • 1) the reference number to use for calculating the number of passengers for a van/mini-van or the weight of the vehicle in order to determine the type of Driver’s License needed will be the final changed/altered version of the vehicle not the original version
    • 2) if the number of passengers for a van/minivan or the weight of the vehicle changes without any alterations being done on the vehicle then the original version of the number will be used not the final version.
    • 3) if the structure or the functionality of the vehicle is changed or altered, then the original version of the number will be used not the final version.
  • Special case : for vehicles transporting dangerous or hazardous items using either a 3-tom or less freight truck (a 3,000cc or less volume freight truck), a Level 1(regular) type of license will be required. However, if larger than above mentioned freight trucks are used, then a Level 1(large) type of license will be required.
  • For tow-trucks, depending on the type of vehicle that needs to be towed, the driver must have the correct type of license to tow/drive such as vehicle. For towing vehicles over 750 kg, the driver must have a Level 1 (special-trailer) license.
  • Despite some conflicting regulations, it is standard to note that a 2-wheel vehicle can not be used to tow any other vehicle.
